A Note Before We Work Together
"We don't always choose the systems we inherit. We do choose what we leave behind."
Every major transition in my career — Mainframes to Java, then to cloud — meant learning unfamiliar technology, adapting to new constraints, and earning trust all over again. But the technologies were never the real story. What's remained constant is learning, adapting, and leaving every system better than I found it.
Good engineering begins before the first line of code — with understanding the problem, asking better questions, and resisting the urge to fix what isn't yet understood. If a system can't be explained clearly, it probably isn't understood well enough; the best solutions rarely appear until the problem does.
The most valuable engineers aren't remembered for how many systems they built or technologies they mastered. They're remembered for being trusted with hard problems, for what others learned working alongside them, and for leaving software easier to understand than they found it. That's the standard I hold myself to.
Understanding first. Everything else follows.
